Another song for tonight! It is a good one which has been given a sign of approval too as one of the best song in 2009 by Indieful ROK.
I came across to this song when I was trying to find Nell's video in YT. I am a very huge fan of Nell! Now that I said it, it is no wonder I posted this one here, right?
Back to the song then. This song is a part of the tribute album for 20th anniversary of Lee Seung Hwan (이승환) in the music scene, entitled 'Hwantastic Friends' which was released last year. Yoo Hee Yeol and Kim Jung Hwan of Nell collaborated for this song. Yoo Hee Yeol is the man behind Toy. I have not listened many of the songs by Toy, but from some of them that I have listened so far, Toy plays some sweet pop/electronica sound and he usually has another singer featured in his songs. He is also considered a senior in the industry since he is has been active since 1994. Here is one of the famous song from Toy, '오늘 서울은 하루종일 맑음' (Rainy Day in Seoul) which featured Younha (윤하). This song was a part of his latest album 'Thank You' which was released in 2007. Currently, he is hosting his very own TV music program 유희열의 스케치북 (Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook) and radio program both in KBS.
Nell was my 1st encounter to Korean indie music back in 2008, even though at that time they were no longer considered to be one since they have been in the mainstream already. It was probably the time when the song '기억을 걷는 시간' (Time Spent Looking Through Memories)... a very long translation for a title. I have posted that song somewhere in this blog, and you may check it out here or just go here to watch in YT. Just listen to it and you will know why you can fall in love instantly after the 1st try.
Kim Jong Hwan who gave his vocal to this song is currently in his military service period. Thus, Nell is hiatus at the moment. Yet, I hope that they are going to return to the K-music scene somewhere this or next year. I have been missing them already and I am really eager to see their performance live someday. It is on my list along with Sung Si Kyung XD. In the meantime, I tried to listen more to their previous albums and fell in love with their old songs.
